Last Friday Nathan's class put on a circus. It was the cutest school event I have ever seen. It was called Circus McGehrkus, after a line from "If I Ran the Circus" by Dr. Suess. It works because Nathan's teacher's name is Mrs. Gehrke.
Nathan was a penguin trainer, and one of only 3 people in the class who got a speaking part. He was unusually shy when he got on stage and we thought for a moment that he might decide not to speak at all, but one of his penguin friends helped him out by telling him where to go and when to speak.
Cutest penguin trainer ever.
Maayu enjoyed the show and the popcorn.
Clowns!
The weight lifters were so cute! The little boy on the right was too shy to do any of the moves at first. Then at the end, he lifted his weights with one hand and everyone cheered and laughed.
Animals on bikes.
There were also acrobats, who thrilled us with tight rope walking (a jump rope laid on the ground) and ribbon twirling.
Christopher was invited to watch too. Though he felt he was a little too mature for the event, he did thank Nathan for getting him out of writing a long journal entry in class.
We were so proud of him!
